Lab and Field Scale Modeling of Near Miscible CO2 Injection in Different Porous Mediums
The main purpose of this investigation is to study the effect of near miscible CO2 injection in different porous mediums on both lab and field scales. This effect can be traced by the change of two-phase gas-oil relative permeability curves. In this work, the experiments have been performed on three rock types (i.e. sandstone, dolomite, and artificial fractured sandstone) based on an incrementa...
متن کاملNon-locality of scale interactions in turbulent shear flows
The scale interactions in turbulent shear flow are evaluated using a channel flow DNS database at Reτ = 590. The velocity field is filtered using a sharp cut-off filter in the Fourier space, and the relative magnitudes of the advective terms in the small scale equations, derived from Navier-Stokes equations, are computed as a function of wavenumber. We show that the interactions at small scales...
متن کاملOverview of turbulent shear flows
A brief review of basic concepts and folklore in shear turbulence. 1 Reynolds decomposition Experimental measurements show that turbulent flows can be decomposed into welldefined averages plus fluctuations, v = v̄ + v′. This is nicely illustrated in the Turbulence film available online at http://web.mit.edu/hml/ncfmf.html that was already mentioned in Lecture 1. In experiments, the average v̄ is ...
متن کاملLarge-scale finite-wavelength modulation within turbulent shear flows.
We show that turbulent "spirals" and "spots" observed in Taylor-Couette and plane Couette flow correspond to a turbulence-intensity modulated finite-wavelength pattern which in every respect fits the phenomenology of coupled noisy Ginzburg-Landau (amplitude) equations with noise. This suggests the existence of a long-wavelength instability of the homogeneous turbulence regime.
متن کامل3D-simulation of the turbulent wake behind a wind turbine
The paper relates to the simulation of the airflow around a wind turbine (WT) of the type ENERCON E66 with emphasis on the turbulent wake. The simulations were undertaken with the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software ANSYS FLUENT 6.3 using the LES technique for turbulence modeling. It is the aim of the work to capture the full threedimensional turbulent flow behind a WT in a sufficient s...
